Terms of service

Last updated: 5 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Ekisde ("we", "us"; see the legal notice) for the KeyAuth service. By creating an account you accept them.

1. What KeyAuth is

KeyAuth lets software developers ("you") create applications, issue license keys, and check those keys from their own software through an API. You may also give your customers a sign-in panel and give resellers accounts to create keys for you. The people who use your software are your customers, not ours.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. If you sign up for a business, you confirm you can bind it.
  • Give a real email address and keep it up to date. You must confirm it to sign in.
  • Keep your password, recovery codes and seller keys secret. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person should not run many free accounts to get around limits.

3. Plans and limits

There are several plans: Free, Starter, Business and Scale. They differ in the number of applications, users per application and resellers per application; the current limits and prices are shown on the Billing page before you pay. We may change the limits or prices for the future, and will tell you before a change reaches an existing paid period.

The Trial. The Trial is a free plan with no limits on applications, users or resellers, and no payment details needed. While we have claims open, any account can claim it from the Billing page, until a last day we set (and may change or bring forward). The Trial is a courtesy, not a promise. It ends for all Trial accounts on the same day, which we set and announce (on the site and by email) and may change; until we announce a day it has no fixed end, and we can end it earlier. We can refuse or withdraw the Trial from accounts we believe are abusing it, for example many accounts made just to get it. When it ends, your account moves to the Free plan, or to the paid plan you chose; nothing is deleted, but you cannot add more past that plan's limits.

If you go to a smaller plan, or the Trial ends, we do not delete anything. Your existing applications, users and resellers stay, but you cannot add more past the new plan's limits.

4. Payment

Paid plans are paid monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe, which handles your card details; we never see or store them. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel. Taxes such as VAT are added where the law requires them and are shown at checkout. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it for a while, and if it still fails the subscription ends. See also the cancellation and refunds page.

We can also give a paid plan's limits for free or for a limited time, for example after a request or a one-time purchase arranged with us. We may end such a grant at its stated end date.

5. What you may not do

  • Use KeyAuth for anything illegal, or to protect, distribute or sell malware, stolen or pirated software, or software meant to harm others.
  • Attack, overload or probe the service, or try to access another developer's data.
  • Work around limits, rate limits or security measures.
  • Use the service to send spam or to collect personal data you have no right to collect.
  • Resell access to the service itself as your own product.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, or that puts the service or other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first.

6. Your customers and their data

You decide what your software does and what you tell your customers. You are responsible for your own terms with them, for having a lawful basis to use their data, and for answering their requests. For the personal data of your customers and resellers that is stored in KeyAuth (usernames, password hashes, device identifiers, IP addresses and subscription dates), you are the controller and we are your processor. We use it only to run the service for you, keep it secure, and keep it confidential, and we use the service providers listed in the privacy policy. We will help you with your customers' data requests and tell you without undue delay if we learn of a breach affecting it. When your account ends we delete this data as described in the privacy policy.

7. Availability and your data

The Free plan and the Trial are provided as they are, free of charge, with no promise that it will be available, fast or free of errors. We are not responsible if it fails, is interrupted or loses data, except where the law does not let us exclude that (see section 9). Paid plans have no uptime guarantee either, but if a failure of ours seriously affects your paid service you get the remedy in section 9.

We run KeyAuth on a single server and do our best to keep it available and backed up. Do not rely on KeyAuth as the only place your license keys exist: you can export them from the Licenses page. If your software refuses to start when it cannot reach the service, plan for outages.

8. Ending the agreement

You can stop using KeyAuth at any time, cancel a paid plan, and delete your account yourself from the Security page (or ask us to, see the privacy policy). We can end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or immediately for a serious breach. When an account is closed, its applications and licenses stop working.

9. Responsibility

We are responsible for damage we cause by our own intent or gross negligence, and for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, including your rights as a consumer. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows:

  • Free plan and Trial: we are not liable for any loss caused by the Free service failing, being interrupted or losing data, and the same applies to the Trial.
  • Paid plans (Starter, Business, Scale): if the service fails because of us in a way that seriously affects you, we will refund your most recent subscription payment in full. That refund is your remedy for the failure, and our total liability for anything connected to the service is limited to the amount of that payment.
  • In no case are we liable for lost profits, lost sales or indirect damage.

10. Changes, law and disputes

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and for material changes we will tell you by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. Spanish law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and may go to the courts there. Otherwise the courts of Spain are competent.
